  • By preparing or assisting with the preparation of a systematic review.
  • By peer-refereeing a protocol (the outline of a proposed systematic review) and/or a completed review.

Preparing a review with our Group

Are you interested in preparing a Cochrane Review? If so, first familiarize yourself with Cochrane Reviews and with those reviews prepared by the Cochrane HIV/AIDS Group. You should be aware that undertaking a Cochrane Review is a big commitment and a time-consuming process, but it is also also a very rewarding endeavor.

Normative time for completing a Cochrane review with our Group

From Title Registration to Protocol:

  • The draft Protocol (before peer review) is expected within 6 months. If, however, we have not received it after 12 months, we may make the title available again.

From Protocol to completed Review:

  • The draft Review (before peer review) is expected within 18 months (counting from the protocol's final submission). If not received after 24 months after the protocol's final submission, we may make the title available again.

Choosing your topic

The next step is to select a research question. It may be useful for you to consult our current list of completed reviews, reviews in progress, and registered tiitles, just to be sure that you choose a topic that differs from these. You can find our current list on this page.

Once you have decided on a topic, you can register your intent by completing the title registration form. We will circulate your title among our Editors, and should be able to give you an answer within a few days. If all goes well, we will then register your title.

Would you care to seve as a peer referee/peer reviewer, or provide a consumer perspective on our reviews?

We would welcome you! Please complete the Membership Registration Form and indicate the type of contribution you are interested in making to the Group.

Thank you very much!
