Carlos F. Cáceres,
MD, DrPH

Carlos
F. Cáceres is Professor of Public
Health at Cayetano
Heredia University in Lima and an adjunct faculty member at UCSF. He
attended
the CAPS International Program in 1989, and later obtained his MPH
(1991) and
DrPH (1996) degrees from UC Berkeley, where he received training in
both
epidemiological and qualitative research. Throughout
the last decade he has directed various studies
on social aspects
of HIV/AIDS and sexual/reproductive health with populations of young
people and
men who have sex with men. Currently,
he also serves as the co-P.I. in the Peru Collaborative Team - NIMH
HIV/STD
Collaborative Intervention Trial, together with Dr. Coates. Dr. Cáceres is fluent in Spanish,
Portuguese, English and French. Apart
from his research experience, he has served as a consultant to various
institutions, including the World Health Organization and UNAIDS, UNDP
(in
Peru, Brazil and Honduras), UNFPA, and USAID (through various agencies)
for
diverse planning, research and training activities in Latin America.
