Dr Klausner is an Attending Physician in Medicine, AIDS and Infectious Diseases, at San Francisco General Hospital and maintains a half-day a week AIDS care clinic at the UCSF Positive Health Program.  He also provides clinical services at the San Francisco City Clinic one half-day a week. Dr. Klausner received his Medical Degree from Cornell University, trained in Internal Medicine at New York University-Bellevue Hospital and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  He received his Masters of Public Health in International Health and Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health and completed his Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Washington.  

Dr. Klausner serves as a consultant, co-investigator and principal investigator on several NIH and CDC funded trials utilizing biological outcomes as measures of the effectiveness of prevention interventions. He has published over sixty manuscripts related to sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences in HIV and STDs. Dr. Klausner was the recent recipient of the 2002 American STD Association Young Investigator Award; he has received medical research support from Pfizer and Focus Technologies and honoraria from Glaxo-SmithKline and Diagnology.
