Debbie Bain Brickley is a Senior Researcher with the Public Health and Prevention Group. Dr. Brickley is the interim Regional Coordinator for Asia for the International Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies (ITAPS) program. In this capacity, she mentors international scholars and coordinates and teaches a Data Management and Analysis Seminar. She also serves as Co-Editor of a special issue of the journal AIDS & Behavior highlighting ITAPS scholars' research. Dr. Brickley coordinates PPHG's work in translational research, meaning translating the evidence base of public health research into practice. She is also currently working with the Cochrane HIV/AIDS Group to conduct a literature review of the linkages between sexual and reproductive health services and HIV prevention, care and treatment. Finally, Dr. Brickley serves as a technical consultant in monitoring and evaluation of global HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs as part of the CDC University Technical Assistance Program (UTAP).
Dr. Brickley has a background in epidemiology/biostatistics as well as qualitative research methods. She has been involved in international AIDS behavioral research, training and evaluation since 2000, with an emphasis in Southeast Asia. Her most recent research project evaluated stigma and discrimination experienced in the health care setting by pregnant and postpartum women with HIV in Vietnam.
Dr. Brickley received her MPH and DrPH from UC Berkeley and her BS from Stanford University.
