Irene Iuppa

Irene Iuppa is a Research Associate in the Prevention and Public Health Group (PPHG) of Global Health Sciences at UCSF. She is a member of the Data Use Team, helping to produce the PEPFAR Country Operational Reporting System (COPRS) Reports. She works as a project assistant for PPHG’s various projects in Botswana. In addition, she works on the Rwanda Triangulation team.

Her past research experience includes an ethnographic study of the volunteers of L’Association AIDES, who conduct street-level interventions for male and female sex workers in Bordeaux, France; developing a facilitated educational support group on HIV/AIDS and mental health for Transsexual women for the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) TRANS Project; and a pilot study of a behavioral intervention developed by the CDC for female sex worker-injection drug users in Tijuana, Mexico.

Irene graduated with high distinction with a B.A. in International Studies: Anthropology from UC San Diego. Her concentrations were Anthropology and Sociology. Her geographical area of specialization was Africa. She also completed a minor in Health Care: Social Issues.
